Linear Appraisal (LA)
We participate in ADGA Linear Appraisals. We have all goats in our herd
evaluated. All evaluation data is valuable, the good & the not so good. We
are strong believers in having all bucks evaluated. Appraisal scores are to
help you breed better goats and does not reflect personality,
friendliness or milk quality/quantity. Linear & Structural scores are just
another tool to use along with Milk Tests & Show Results.
Linear Traits are scored on a scale from 1-50, except RUSV which is scored 0-4. I have listed the Ideal Range for each catatgory.
When we started out this was the most confusing aspect of Linear Appraisals. Final Score, Major
Categories & Structural Catategories
are all scored the same. I have listed them below for reference. As a herd we have had more success
in improving Structural areas. Lots more on our breeding results in Breeding by the Numbers section.

- G (+) - Good Plus, at least 80%-84% of ideal
